Healthcare in the United States is at a breaking point. 47 million people are currently without health insurance – barring them from obtaining even the most basic and routine medical services. Many more, even with health insurance, lack the access to care they and their families so desperately need. Costs are rising and the number of service providers per capita is dropping. Though we spend far more on healthcare than any other country in the world, the US is nowhere near the healthiest nation.
America’s healthcare system is not well. You know it. But what can you do?
Well, for starters, you can deepen you understanding of this intricate and convoluted issue. The resources here will help you do so.
Our resources are divided into two main sections: background and church teaching. Links to additional resources are found in each section.
The Coalition also offers an array of additional educational opportunities for our parish and the larger community. These programs range from ongoing speaker series to facilitated discussions on specific advocacy issues to intensive 5-10 week courses on emergent issues of justice and peace. For more information on these, please see our Education page.
You may also want to refer back to the “Frequently Asked Questions” page and our “Resources” page which contains links to our partners, publications, and related links.
Once you have sifted through this information, if you wish to join our grassroots effort on the issue, please contact Joseph Wolyniak. You may also contact us with any additional questions, requests for more information, or comments on the resources we have provided here.
